📚 A Day for Stories: Celebrating World Book Day as a Family
There’s something about storytime, isn’t there?
Maybe it’s the way little hands flip through pages like treasure maps, or how a single line, “Once upon a time…”, can hush the whole room. Stories connect us. They calm us. And sometimes, they carry us far, far away, without ever leaving the playroom floor.
This World Book Day, we’re not just celebrating books. We’re celebrating the moments around them, reading under blankets, whispering fairy tales at bedtime, acting out adventures in the garden, giggling at the same page for the tenth time.
In Spain, Stories Come with Roses 🌹
Here at home, April 23rd also marks a special celebration, Sant Jordi. It’s a Catalan tradition where loved ones exchange a book and a rose, honoring the legend of Saint George and the dragon.
It’s a day where streets fill with stories, flowers, and quiet magic. A book for the mind, a rose for the heart. And though Sant Jordi is a Catalan tradition, its message of love and literature is one all families can embrace, wherever you are.

3 Gentle Ways to Celebrate World Book Day Together
1. Make reading feel like a ritual.
Choose a favorite book, a cozy corner, and read slowly. Ask questions. Wonder together. Make space for imagination to stretch.
2. Dress the part, just for fun.
Let your little one pick an outfit that matches their favorite character. A red gingham swimsuit might suddenly belong to Little Red Riding Hood. A floral dress becomes a fairy queen’s robe. Let pretend play bloom.
3. Share a book with someone else.
It could be a neighbor, a cousin, a classmate. Add a hand-drawn rose and turn the moment into a little Sant Jordi gift, made with love, not perfection.
Because Every Childhood Has a Story
At Tutto Piccolo, we believe childhood is its own story, told in puddle jumps, whispered wishes, and outfit changes between chapters. And like every good book, it deserves to be remembered.
So this World Book Day, let’s slow down. Let’s share the stories that made us, and help our little ones find theirs.
What’s a book your child asks for again and again? Or one that takes you back to your own childhood? We’d love to add it to our community’s reading list.
